Memorial Giving

A great way to honor, remember and celebrate loved ones and people who have made a difference in your life. A bookplate is placed in the purchased items. We’ll contact you for specific details.

Item Donations

Books are welcomed and may be added to our collection, book sale or as reading prizes. Please read our “How to Donate” section below before bringing in your items. Find more places to donate below.

Monetary Donations

Your donation – big or small – makes a meaningful difference.

Please make checks out to the Prescott Public Library and kindly mail or drop off at the library. 800 Borner Street North, Prescott, WI 54021.

How to Donate

Thank you for your interest in donating items to the library. Below, find more information about how to donate, what we are able (or unable) to accept, and alternative places to donate.

Bringing in Your Donations

  • Please bring donations to the circulation desk in the library.
  • If you have a large number of books to donate, please call the library in advance. We have limited space available.
  • The library is unable to use the following: books with ripped covers, broken spines, have been written in, have liquid damage, mold, or have a musty smell.

Items We Accept (or not)

Items we accept:

  • Books published within the last 3 years
  • Hardcover & paperback books
  • Movies: DVD, Blu-rays, and 4K

Items we are unable to accept:

  • Books in poor condition
  • Encyclopedias & dictionaries
  • Old magazines
  • VHS or cassette tapes
  • Reader’s Digest condensed books
  • Textbooks

Where They Go

Items donated may be used for the following:

  • Adding to the library’s collection
  • Ongoing book sale
  • Summer Reading Program prizes
  • Donated to other libraries or organizations

Donation Acknowledgement

Book donations, like other non-cash donations, may be tax deductible as charitable donations. Upon request, library staff will provide you with an “Acknowledgement of Donation” form.

The Library is unable to appraise the value of donated materials.

The African Studies Program from UW-Madison sponsored the Read Africa grant and funded books to enrich our collection. Also, to enable WI readers to deepen their understanding of Africa.

Funded & sponsored our Fun & Games: Memory Care Kit in 2021. Additionally, they have sponsored bags full of activities and information for memory care.

Donations from the Henkel Foundation in 2020 and 2021 provided funding to purchase technology resources. Resources included Playaway Launchpad Tablets, Kindles, charging accessories, and additional Wi-Fi Hotspots.

The Allina Health Neighborhood Connection grant funded the library’s Beginning Yoga and wellness classes in 2018 and 2019.

Allina made a donation in 2023 which helped the library purchase recreational equipment to check out.
